Jenna's Story

After having my home burglarized on two separate occasions, then becoming the victim of a senseless drive-by shooting, I decided our living situation was far from safe for me and my son.  We packed the remains of our belongings and moved in with my mother and younger siblings.  The neighborhood where they lived was not much safer, but I felt a little more comfortable with family around.  I found a job closer to my mother’s house.  The plan was to save up money for a few months, then find another place for my son and me to live.  Of course, that didn’t go so well with my mother being unemployed.  Most of my money went towards bills and the everyday needs of my child.  My mother and I never had a close relationship.  Even though we argued a lot, I still respected the fact that she was my mother.  I wanted a better bond with her but we had characteristics as opposite as night and day.  We clashed and she, not being the type to agree to disagree, decided that I should leave.

Shortly before she asked me to leave, I began an intimate relationship with a long-time friend and became pregnant.  When I made him aware of my pregnancy, his fear of responsibility caused him to distance himself and ultimately want nothing to do with me.  Now a single mother pregnant with my second child and soon to be homeless, I began to panic and became depressed.  A close friend who I told about my circumstances suggested that I contact Alpha-Omega Miracle Home.  She said they had a Christian-based residential program I should definitely consider.  She gave me the phone number and, after a brief phone interview, I applied, was interviewed and was accepted into the program.

Alpha-Omega Miracle Home completely changed the lives of me and my children.  The staff has been a great help providing transportation to and from doctor’s appointments.  I was offered weekly counseling and Bible study to help me through the pain from the trauma I had experienced.  And shortly after arriving, I gave birth to a baby girl who has been provided all the things that are necessary to properly care for a baby.  The Alpha-Omega staff has gone above and beyond to help better the lives of me and my children.  There are not enough words to describe how grateful I am for the blessings we have received.
