Community Outreach Services

Shoes of Hope

A strategic outreach to low-income children and families in St. Johns County to provide 1,000 new back-to-school shoes and socks each year. Teams of volunteers wash the feet of each child, place new socks and shoes on the children’s feet, and share with them a message of encouragement: stay in school and hold onto your dreams because God has BIG plans for your life!

Community Diaper Bank

Many parents have to choose between buying food or diapers. Alpha-Omega’s Community Diaper Bank provides free diapers, formula and baby food for families experiencing serious economic need. 7,280 diapers and wipes were given out last year alone.

Extended Families Program

Extended Family Program. A Christian substitute family program for children of parents in crisis, usually single parents in need of in-patient addiction recovery, with the goal of reuniting families once the parent has had a chance to seek help and healing. Our extended families go through the same extensive background checks and home studies as licensed foster families with DCF.

Adoption Assistance Program

While not an adoption agency, AOMH “walks” pregnant women through the option of adoption, educating them on their rights and connecting them with an attorney and agency that fits their needs. If they choose the gift of adoption we assist them in navigating the adoption and family selection process, ensuring that babies are placed with stable and loving families; birth mothers receive the counseling and support they need.

Alpha-Omega Thrift Store

Not only do proceeds from the thrift store fund Alpha-Omega’s housing programs, but homeless and poor families are referred to our agency for free vouchers and receive clothing, shoes, and furniture.
