Beginnings, when I think of the word beginning, I think of God’s Word “In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth”. I think of the beginning of life when newborns depend 100% on their parents for care. I think of the beginning of high school, college, adulthood, marriage and the adventures of becoming parents.
In the beginning, Alpha-Omega Miracle Home started with one maternity home in Hastings, which housed up to 7 young mothers. Now, 20 years later we have 15 apartments and 2 houses that we utilize to help single mothers, their children, and senior women find new hope in a safe environment as they start their new beginning.
The face of homelessness has changed dramatically over the past two decades. More senior women find themselves with nowhere to call home and no one to turn to. Statistics from the National Center on Family Homelessness record: 71% of single-parent families are headed by a female, 53% of homeless mothers do not have a high school diploma, 42% of children in homeless families are under age six. Single parents have difficulty finding an apartment due to poor credit, rental history, and employment history. These women and children may not have an opportunity to break the cycle of poverty and start their new beginning without the help of AOMH and our supporters. We receive more calls from senior women now than past years.
Please join AOMH as we continue to grow and build our new campus that will allow us to house an additional 100 women and children here in St Johns County.
Thank you to all of our magnificent sponsors, donors and volunteers for supporting the work of Alpha-Omega Miracle Home and our 20th Anniversary Celebration Banquet.
It starts with you and me…new beginnings… for something new to begin, something else must end. Every beginning symbolizes the end of what was and the beginning of a new journey. You have directly contributed to our mission of helping young mothers, their children and senior women to begin… again.
